UW Bargaining Update 6/14/18

This was day two of bargaining for our locals: Local 3488 (Harborview/Laundry) and Local 1488 (Campuswide/UWMC).

We'll start with a small but important win: Some members of the teams were getting pushback regarding being released for the talks. It appears that has been resolved and we should be at full strength going forward.

The team presented nearly all of the non economic proposals initial proposals. Those are all the issues (except pay issues) members shared with the team and local leadership.

Members of the team took turns giving brief explanations of why each idea was important.

The common thread is based the idea that all proposals should make the UW and HMC better places to work while improving operations.

We will have two more dates in June, and one in July before we start joint economic bargaining with SEIU 925 in August.

We need to let the employer know that members care about this contract, so stand by for a series of events in support of bargaining.
