UW Bargaining Update 9/10/18

UW BARGAINING TEAM AGREES TO MANY NON-ECONOMIC ITEMS, STILL WAITING FOR MANAGEMENT’S OFFER ON RAISES!

Tentative agreement was reached on many non-economic items. Management has played a delaying game since day one, often proposing things that they knew would cause long discussion in caucus, only to later agree to something that we likely would have agreed to weeks before.

WE ARE STILL WAITING ON THE UW’S ECONOMIC OFFER AND RESPONSE TO OUR PROPOSALS FOR RAISES

Here are some of the improvements our union has proposed to the University for raises:

  • Cost-of-living raises for all:  8% and 8%.
  • Market catch-up raises for lots of job classes in all types of work, from patient care to clerical support, cleaning/custodial, cooking, and skilled trades. The list is long with amounts of 5-15% depending on the data.
  • Float pay for the PCT's and HA's, improved and expanded shift pay for those stuck with the $1 per hour and nothing more!

The only way we are going to move the UW is power in numbers!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH IS THE TIME TO SHOW UW THAT WE CARE ABOUT REAL RAISES!

Management needs to see lots of members from all the unions! The Wednesday Sept. 12th events are located right by the two hospitals and are timed to catch some lunches and shift changes.

SO COME OUT! Even if only for a little bit, we need as many members to send the UW a message that we need REAL RAISES! Bring that loud non-member who howls about needing more money. We need the UW to see that the bargaining team are not the only members representing our union!!
